What makes the Warming Shelter different from any other location that supports the homeless is that we welcome any and all who are in need of shelter. Once an individual steps into the Warming Shelter, we want to ensure we can deliver the support necessary to help these individuals get their lives on track. We will do this by providing shelter, food, and hope. We provide stability, and finally help them on a path to reintegrate into the community and become a contributor to the region.
We provide compassion, help and direction to those who need it most.
In 2018, the number of unsheltered in Sioux City stood at an estimated 275 individuals. For the last five years, none of these individuals became a casualty due to the bitter Midwest winter.
“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.” ~ Mother Teresa
